LIVE PROFESSIONAL WORKSHOPS

Cryptocurrency & Digital Assets in Estate Planning

Practical live training for will-writers, estate planners, probate practitioners and private client professionals.

Two half-day workshops. One practical learning pathway.

Start with Foundation, then move into Probate & Practical Administration when you need to take that knowledge into what happens after death.

You don’t need a technical background. The focus is practical professional application rather than cryptocurrency trading or investment.

WHICH WORKSHOP IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

Start with the course that matches where you are now

The two workshops have different purposes. Foundation gives you the practical knowledge needed for client conversations and estate planning. Probate & Practical Administration takes that knowledge into the administration of an estate.

STEP 1 · START HERE

Foundation

For will-writers, estate planners and other private client professionals who need to understand how cryptocurrency and digital assets fit into ordinary client work.

No previous cryptocurrency knowledge is required.

  • How clients may hold digital assets.
  • Exchanges, wallets and self-custody.
  • What questions to ask.
  • What to record — and what not to collect.
  • Ownership, access and legal authority.
  • Estate-planning fundamentals.

STEP 2 · NEXT STEP

Probate & Practical Administration

For practitioners who already understand the foundations and want to deal more confidently with cryptocurrency and digital assets when administering an estate.

Foundation or equivalent working knowledge is recommended.

  • Locating and investigating holdings after death.
  • Exchanges, wallets, devices and 2FA.
  • Evidence, access and legal authority.
  • Valuation and practical administration.
  • Inaccessible assets and incomplete records.
  • More complex digital assets and practical risks.
The intended pathway is Foundation → Probate & Practical Administration. You don’t have to repeat material you already understand, so practitioners with equivalent existing knowledge can move directly to the second workshop where appropriate.

THE APPROACH

Professional training, not a cryptocurrency lecture

The aim isn’t to teach you how to trade crypto or turn you into a blockchain technician. It’s to give you enough understanding to deal with the issues that matter in your professional role.

1

Understand what you’re looking at

Build a practical working understanding of exchanges, wallets, self-custody, private keys, recovery information and the different ways clients may hold digital assets.

2

Apply it to client work

Use that understanding in client conversations, fact-finding, file notes, wills, estate planning and professional decision-making.

3

Take it into estate administration

For practitioners dealing with probate, move into locating assets, evidence, access, authority, valuation and the practical issues that arise after death.

WHAT EACH WORKSHOP COVERS

Two workshops with different practical purposes

Probate & Practical Administration isn’t simply a longer version of Foundation. The first workshop prepares you for the client and estate-planning stage; the second focuses on what happens when the assets have to be dealt with.

FOUNDATION

Client conversations & estate planning

  • Cryptocurrency and digital-asset fundamentals.
  • Exchanges, wallets and self-custody.
  • Private keys, seed phrases and recovery information.
  • ACE — Audit, Cover, Extend.
  • Safer client fact-finding.
  • What should and shouldn’t be recorded.
  • Ownership, access and authority.
  • Wills, incapacity and estate-planning considerations.
  • Professional boundaries and escalation.
PROBATE & PRACTICAL ADMINISTRATION

What happens after death

  • Locating and investigating digital assets.
  • Exchange-held versus self-custodied crypto.
  • Devices, passwords, 2FA and recovery dependencies.
  • Evidence, technical access and legal authority.
  • Valuation and relevant tax considerations.
  • Inaccessible assets and incomplete records.
  • Recovery scams and practical risks.
  • Staking, DeFi, NFTs and more complex holdings.
  • Probate and estate-administration scenarios.

Clear professional boundaries are part of both workshops

Plutus provides training and practical education. The workshops do not recommend investments, provide legal or tax advice, take custody of assets or encourage practitioners to hold client private keys, seed phrases, passwords or recovery information.

PRACTICAL OUTCOMES

What the training is designed to help you do more confidently

Recognise when cryptocurrency and digital assets may be relevant.
Ask better client questions without requesting access credentials.
Understand exchanges, wallets and self-custody at the level your role requires.
Separate technical access from legal authority.
Record useful information without creating avoidable security risks.
Understand the implications for wills and estate planning.
Approach cryptoassets found during probate more methodically.
Know when legal, tax, technical or specialist support may be needed.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Workshop questions

Do I need previous cryptocurrency knowledge?

No previous cryptocurrency knowledge is needed for the Foundation workshop. Probate & Practical Administration is designed as the next step, so completing Foundation or already having equivalent working knowledge is recommended.

What’s the difference between Foundation and Probate & Practical Administration?

Foundation focuses on the client conversation and estate-planning stage: understanding how digital assets may be held, what questions to ask, what information to record and how to deal safely with access and authority. Probate & Practical Administration takes that knowledge into what happens after death, including locating assets, exchanges and wallets, devices and 2FA, evidence, valuation, inaccessible holdings and practical estate administration.

Can I go straight to Probate & Practical Administration?

Yes, where you already have an equivalent working understanding of the Foundation material. The second workshop assumes that you already understand the basic concepts, so it isn’t intended to spend significant time revisiting cryptocurrency fundamentals.

What’s the difference between a free taster and the paid workshops?

The free 45-minute tasters focus on one practical issue and provide a shorter introduction. The paid workshops are structured practitioner training with more time for explanation, practical application and supporting resources.

Is the training about investing or trading cryptocurrency?

No. The focus is on how cryptocurrency and digital assets affect professional estate-planning and probate work. Plutus does not recommend coins or tokens or provide trading or investment advice.

Who are the workshops designed for?

Primarily will-writers, estate planners, probate practitioners, solicitors and other private client professionals who may encounter cryptocurrency or digital assets in their work.

Can I book as an individual?

Yes. Individual practitioners can book the live workshops. IPW and SWW members can follow their organisation’s route on the Upcoming Workshops page to see the relevant courses, dates and member pricing.

Will I receive supporting resources?

Yes, although the exact resource set depends on the workshop. Relevant preparation, supporting materials and certificates are provided through the Zenler course area for the workshop you attend.

Is the practitioner book included?

Unless a particular workshop offer specifically states otherwise, the book is a separate product. You can view Cryptocurrency & Estate Planning – 2026 Practitioner Edition on the book page .
