Helping professionals make sense of cryptocurrency and digital assets
I’m Simon Dyer, founder of Plutus Crypto Consulting.
My work is focused on helping will-writers, estate planners, probate professionals and private client teams understand an area that can feel unfamiliar very quickly.
I don’t believe professionals need to know everything about crypto. They do need someone who can explain the important parts clearly, put them into context and show how they affect the work they already do.
That’s the role I’ve built Plutus around.
I could see a gap between the technology and the people who needed to deal with it
I started Plutus Crypto Consulting in 2021 after spending more time working with cryptocurrency and seeing how quickly the subject could become difficult for people outside the crypto world.
The technology itself is only part of the problem.
The more interesting question for me was what happens when somebody owns digital assets but the professionals supporting them don’t know how those assets work, where the risks sit or what questions need to be asked.
That became particularly relevant when I looked at wills, incapacity, inheritance and probate.
This is where the technology meets real life
Cryptocurrency can be valuable, difficult to identify and unforgiving when the right planning hasn’t taken place.
A client may understand their own setup perfectly, but that doesn’t mean their partner, executor or professional adviser will.
That knowledge gap is where good professional conversations become important.
Financial services, leadership, coaching and training
Before starting Plutus, I spent more than 25 years working in financial services, operational leadership and people development.
I’ve led teams, worked through significant business and regulatory change and spent a large part of my career helping people understand complicated subjects and turn them into something they can actually use.
That experience has shaped the way I approach crypto education.
I’m also a qualified executive coach and trainer, so explaining, questioning and helping people build confidence have always been central to the work I do.
My interest in cryptocurrency took me further into blockchain and digital assets, but I’ve never been interested in making the subject sound more technical than it needs to be.
For me, the value is in helping somebody understand enough to make a better decision, ask a better question or recognise when they need more support.
Clear enough to understand. Detailed enough to matter.
Crypto can be complicated, but the explanation doesn’t need to be. The important thing is not to simplify it so far that the risks disappear.
Plain English
I start with what somebody actually needs to know for their role, rather than giving them a technical lecture on blockchain.
Practical examples
The training is linked back to real client conversations, documents, decisions and situations professionals may actually face.
Important detail stays in
Security, authority and access can have serious consequences. I simplify the explanation, not the importance of getting it right.

From crypto audiences to estate planning professionals
I’ve spoken about cryptocurrency and digital assets at industry events and to professional audiences, including NFT London and Unpacked 2023.
That experience has included both crypto-focused audiences and sessions looking specifically at the practical issues digital assets create in estate planning.
Today, much of my speaking and training work is focused on will-writers, estate planners, probate professionals and related private client audiences.

Mostly professionals who know their own job well, but don’t want crypto to become a blind spot
Most of my work now involves will-writers, estate planners, probate professionals, solicitors, private client teams and professional organisations.
That may mean delivering a workshop, helping a firm think through the way it asks clients about digital assets, supporting professionals dealing with a crypto-related estate, or speaking to a wider membership group that wants a clear introduction to the subject.
